Caulfield Junior College Student Leader Election Process
Criteria for Student Leader Nominees
Please address the following points in your speech:
• Qualities that you have which will assist you in the role of a student leader at Caulfield Junior College with focus on being a member of a team and working with a team spirit
• Your ability to demonstrate CJC’s five key values of respect, love of learning, responsibility, integrity and harmony
• Your ability to take on extra responsibilities as required
Student Leader Responsibilities
School Captains:
• Lead, organise assemblies
• Respond to requests from Principal and Assistant Principal
• ‘Front of House’ responsibilities
House Captains/Vice-Captains:
• Organise House Meetings once a term
• Weekly house points
All Student Leaders:
• Assist to uphold all school rules
• Consistently demonstrate the 5 key values of respect, love of learning, responsibility, integrity and harmony
• Assist in policy/rule making
• Roster and responsibility for lunch-time activities two days per week
• Participate in dialogue focussing on peer relationships and the welfare of all students
• Available for mentoring roles as required
• Participate in team building activities, reflecting the value of the team
Student Leader Election Process
1. Nominations for all positions taken in Week 4, Term 4.
2. Nominees present 1 minute speech using criteria during Weeks 8-10, Term 4.
3. Current Year 2-5 students to vote on voting card after each section.
4. Votes collected and counted by LA teachers.
5. The two students with the most votes for each position (or as determined by the Leadership Team), will be interviewed by representatives of the school Leadership Team.
6. Announcement of leaders at final Senior School Assembly; introduction to whole school at end of year whole school assembly.
Positions:
• School Captains /Vice Captains (Yr6 male/female)
• House Captains (4 houses and Yr 6 male/female for each)
• Vice Captains (4 houses and Yr 5 male/female for each)
• Other positions as determined by Principal eg: Multi-Media, Environmental, Administration, Sports Leaders, etc
