The purpose of the HIP Hebrew Program is:
- To enable our students to enhance their personal development through the learning of a language other than English;
- To enable our students to acquire and develop Hebrew language skills and knowledge;
- To teach the Hebrew language, which is integral to the culture of a significant section of the CJC school community;
- To develop opportunities for the local community to connect with the school as well as opportunities for the students of the elective to connect with their community;
- To enhance the CJC Global Perspective.
The students' aim are:
- To develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Hebrew language;
- To increase personal fulfilment and competence through the development of language skills;
- To access, communicate with and be able to participate effectively within the local and international community of Hebrew speakers.
The Hebrew Immersion program is:
- Accessible by students from Prep to Year 6;
- Immersion in nature with multiple lessons in the week;
- Self-funded by students;
- Overseen by school council;
- Follows a structured curriculum with clear benchmarks and outcomes;
- Run by a sub-committee of school council including, but not limited to, school (DEECD) representatives, program coordinator and parents of students in the program. The sub committee makes policy recommendations to the council.
