Hebrew Immersion - Mission Statement

The purpose of the HIP Hebrew Program is:

  • To enable our students to enhance their personal development through the learning of a language other than English;
  • To enable our students to acquire and develop Hebrew language skills and knowledge;
  • To teach the Hebrew language, which is integral to the culture of a significant section of the CJC school community;
  • To develop opportunities for the local community to connect with the school as well as opportunities for the students of the elective to connect with their community;
  • To enhance the CJC Global Perspective.

The students' aim are:

  • To develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Hebrew language;
  • To increase personal fulfilment and competence through the development of language skills; 
  • To access, communicate with and be able to participate effectively within the local and international community of Hebrew speakers.

The Hebrew Immersion program is:

  • Accessible by students from Prep to Year 6;
  • Immersion in nature with multiple lessons in the week;
  • Self-funded by students;
  • Overseen by school council;
  • Follows a structured curriculum with clear benchmarks and outcomes;
  • Run by a sub-committee of school council including, but not limited to, school (DEECD) representatives, program coordinator and parents of students in the program. The sub committee makes policy recommendations to the council.
