From Our School Leadership Team,

It was great to see our teachers arriving early this morning for their professional learning day that looked at a range of programs, activities and resources that will support the important work they undertake at CJC.  Our curriculum day today was a great opportunity for staff to work collaboratively and examine their use of assessment in improving student outcomes and impacting on their own teaching practice. This important work is linked to the development of a whole school teaching approach and pedagogical model that supports the Annual Implementation Plan.

We had a number of staff conduct workshops for their colleagues and this highlights the abilities and talents that our staff have and use in their work. Thank you to our organisers, caterers and presenters who made the day so successful.

I am sure many families have used the long weekend to travel away and I hope that you enjoy these special opportunities. Travel safely.

The Principal selection process continues and the closing dates for applications is March 15th. A selection panel will then convene to assess the applications and create a short list of candidates to be interviewed.

The Coles docket promotion continues and we have a box in the main foyer outside the office where these dockets can be placed. Thank you to everyone who has supported this initiative.

On Wednesday March 21st our school will be holding an event to celebrate Harmony Day.  Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity and a day that promotes cultural respect for everyone who lives in Australia.  The message of Harmony Day is ‘Everyone Belongs’ and through our participation as a school community ‘Belonging’ and ‘Respect’ will be our main themes.

The event will include:

1pm - Library Open Day for Parents 1pm – 4pm.

2pm - A whole school gathering at 2pm in the BER for singing, speeches and a presentation by our students

2.30pm A classroom art activity to begin with students after our whole school assembly (parents will be welcome to be in the classroom during this time)

3.30pm – The library will be open till 4pm for parents.

Students can dress up in their cultural colours or wear a splash of orange! (No gold coin needed)

The End of Term Assembly will be held from 2 – 3.30pm on Friday March 23rd.

Term 1 ends on Thursday March 29th at 2.30pm. Please arrange to collect your child early or contact Camp Australia for after school care.

Term 2 commences Monday April 16th.

After school, we have many families enjoying the chance to socialise, catch up and have their children enjoy the playground. I need to remind families and students that the school expectations around behaviour, safe play and appropriate standards are still in effect. Staff members are on duty until 3.45 pm and parents have an obligation to closely supervise the activities of their children in their care.

Children who walk or ride home need to exit the school immediately after they are dismissed from class and make their way directly home.
